A traveling wild west show that spurred Deadwood into infamy in American culture still today was wrapping up another season of gun fighting, gambling and cowboys and Indian battles 125 years ago this week.

Led by the frontier’s greatest showman, Buffalo Bill helped make the Black Hills an international icon with theatrical performances, spinning tales and captivating audiences around the world — building the image of pioneer life and spotlighting the wild mining town that still draws global tourists today.
