Kaylor AgriServices plans new soybean roasting facility in Fiegen Industrial Park by September 2027
A South Dakota soybean baker is adding another multi-million dollar roasting facility to its dossier – this time in northern Minnehaha County.
Kaylor AgriServices plans to build an $8 million to $10 million livestock nutrition plant in southern Dell Rapids, expanding the Parkston-based company’s soybean roasting operations in southeastern South Dakota.
“This facility will allow us to serve more producers, create additional opportunities for soybean growers, and deliver a high-quality feed product directly to dairies throughout the region,” said Lance Thury, CEO of Kaylor AgriServices, which will soon begin moving ground on more than six acres in the Fiegen Industrial Park.
The facility will use roasting technology to process soybeans into feed ingredients, including Meal Max, the company’s high-bypass roasted soybean meal.
According to Kaylor AgriServices, the roasting process is designed to provide consistent heat application while preserving proteins in the soybeans.
The Dell Rapids Economic Development Corp. and Sioux Metro Growth Alliance worked with Kaylor AgriServices during the site-selection and planning process, according to the company.
“Kaylor AgriServices is exactly the type of value-added agricultural investment we are excited to welcome to Dell Rapids,” said Matthew Larson, community development director for Dell Rapids. “This project builds upon the strengths of our community and our region, supports producers, and creates additional economic activity locally.”
Tyler Tordsen, president and CEO of the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance, said the organization worked with the company and Dell Rapids Economic Development Corp. during the site-selection process.
“This is a tremendous agricultural and economic development opportunity for Dell Rapids and the broader Sioux Metro region,” Tordsen said.
Once operational, the facility is expected to increase Kaylor AgriServices’ production capacity and allow the company to serve regional dairy producers, according to the company.
Kaylor AgriServices was founded in Kaylor in 1971 and operates locations in Kaylor, Parkston and Tabor. The company provides grain merchandising, agronomy, trucking and livestock services.
Construction on the Dell Rapids plant is expected to be completed in September 2027.
