In honor of this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the Black Hills Pioneer published a special section that included some jaw-dropping sales numbers of new motorcycles during last year’s rally – the 85th.

The owners of Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City opened a new dealership in Sturgis ahead of last year’s rally. It enjoyed “massive success.”

The Sturgis store sold 276 bikes during the 15-day rally. The first 85 customers – one for each year of the rally – were memorialized at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. They were included in the dealership’s Founder’s Club, affording them all the rights and privileges thereof, including a challenge coin and commemorative patch.
