Large corporations continue to lay waste to the local media industry, with Alpha Media laying off radio talent across its company. The Oregon-based conglomerate owns more than 200 stations, including South Dakota stations in Brookings, Watertown and Madison.
Several employees, including Jason Salzman of Brookings Radio, announced on social media their jobs had been eliminated.
“My job at Brookings Radio has come to end, as of today,” Salzman posted on X. “Parent company Alpha Media is going all national syndication. So our local shows are done. This is a terrible day.”
