More than a decade after voters in southwestern South Dakota officially erased Shannon County from the map, the state Department of Public Safety and Highway Patrol still hadn’t gotten the memo.
For years, the agencies have issued monthly notices of where sobriety checkpoints will be held, complete with a statewide map highlighting affected counties. But the latest release caught the eye of The Dakota Scout’s Joe Sneve, who noticed something missing: Oglala Lakota County.

About a year ago, Watertown’s Bramble Park Zoo was denied reaccreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Now, zoo officials are attempting to get the facility back in the good graces of the association, but the climb to reaccreditation is a long one, The Watertown Current reported.
