Let it be known here and wide to criminals in northcentral South Dakota that the new Edmunds County Jail is open for business. And accepting guests.

The brand new, $8.4 million lockup facility had its first bookings on April 20, The Aberdeen Insider reported. Seven of them.

“We’re doing a soft opening,” Sheriff Jonathan Waldner told the paper, likening the new jail to the opening of a new restaurant.
