There’s no question that getting invited to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a big honor for the high school marching bands that make the cut. Last year, Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls made its fourth appearance in the parade since 1994.

The downside is that marching in New York City in late November can come with not-so-great weather. Last year’s parade was wet and cold.

The Harrisburg High School Marching Band is going a different direction. West. Really far west. Where it doesn’t get cold – ever.

A Sioux Falls man who attempted to represent his sister in court did not have standing to do so because he is not a licensed attorney, the South Dakota Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
