Well, we are heavy on South Dakota news, so let’s get after it.

Rural fire and ambulance service providers have been struggling with staffing shortages and funding issues. But for three area providers, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation brought a touch of relief this month.

The foundation – part of the Firehouse Subs sandwich chain – made donations to the Split Rock Fire Department, Lennox Area Ambulance and the Beaver Creek, Minnesota community. The $97,000 will be used to buy lifesaving medical equipment.

The awards were presented in April.
