We start this week in the world of firearms policy. Gov. Larry Rhoden signed bills expanding the ability of people to possess a firearm in certain areas. While a couple of bills loosened restrictions on local government employees and access on public campuses, a more far-reaching bill repealed the prohibition on possessing a pistol in any business that derives half its total income from alcohol sales. State law still allows property owners to post no-firearm signs, preempting their ability to carry, and inebriated people would also be breaking the law if they carry.
