About a year ago, Watertown’s Bramble Park Zoo was denied reaccreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Now, zoo officials are attempting to get the facility back in the good graces of the association, but the climb to reaccreditation is a long one, The Watertown Current reported.

The AZA accreditation ensures that zoos are meeting standards for animal welfare, care and management. Animals at accredited zoos get an annual welfare assessment. Accredited zoos ensure that animals have access to environments that stimulate their natural behavior and provide variety in their daily routines, according to the group’s standards.
