Two measures deal with reproduction making their way to the governor following Senate votes
PIERRE – Abortion in South Dakota would not include medical treatments to resolve a miscarriage or remove an ectopic pregnancy under legislation heading to the Governor’s Office.
It would also exclude the removal of a “deceased unborn child,” medical procedures done to save the life of an unborn child or medical treatments provided to a pregnant woman that accidentally resulted in the unintentional death of an unborn child.
Sponsored by Sen. Tamara Grove, House Bill 1257 was one of two bills the state Senate took up Tuesday that dealt with reproduction. The other requires a prenatal video to be shown to public school students depicting the cycle of reproduction, from conception to birth.
