South Dakota continues to outpace state revenue projections as the close of the government’s fiscal year nears.

That’s according to a rosier-than-expected monthly financial report released Tuesday by the Bureau of Finance and Management showing state collections exceeded budget in April by $12.1 million.

“April’s strong revenue performance reflects the stability of our state economy and the fiscal responsibility that continues to position South Dakota for long-term success,” BFM Commissioner Jim Terwilliger said in a statement provided to The Dakota Scout.
