Regents call for development of 'minors on campus' policy after 'kid-friendly' drag show
Action follows event at South Dakota State University
The South Dakota Board of Regents will review all upcoming campus events involving minors and develop a policy to govern future events on college campus that welcome children to attend.
That’s the action the regents took following an hour-long closed-door meeting Wednesday morning prompted by a recent drag show at South Dakota State University. The event was hosted by a student organization and billed as “kid-friendly.”
"We want our campuses to be safe and welcoming places for students, staff, and visitors of all ages," said Board of Regents President Pam Roberts in a news release issued minutes after the meeting. "To provide our universities and campus organizations with guidance on events where minors are invited, we have directed staff to expedite the formation of a minors on campus policy."
