Recount of Sioux Falls mayor election results starts Wednesday
Smith, Erickson tap prominent public policy attorneys to review ballots after historic runoff
The three people who will recount the June 23 Sioux Falls mayoral election have been selected.
The Sioux Falls City Clerk’s Office late Monday afternoon announced both Mayor-elect Christine Erickson and runner up Jamie Smith, who finished within two votes of one another in a runoff earlier this month, picked who will represent them when about 36,000 ballots cast in the historic election are recounted. And City Clerk Jermery Washington, when revealing that counting would begin Wednesday, warned that the review could take multiple days before the panel is finished.
