Reading scores slid again for South Dakota’s fourth and eighth graders in 2024.

But in releasing its rankings this week on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often referred to as the Nation’s Report Card, the South Dakota Department of Education noted students in those grade levels are still outpacing national averages.
