PIERRE — A firebrand legislator from the Black Hills is back in the doghouse with Republican leadership at the state Capitol.

Rep. Phil Jensen is no longer a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives’ Committee on Education following a room-clearing dustup over assigned seat placements behind the committee room dais. What transpired is now being referred to by lawmakers and capital insiders as “the seating incident.”

And the squabble has roots in the 2025 legislative session.
