A newly formed campaign committee pushing for a new pork processing plant in Sioux Falls raised more than double the money that opponents of the massive project raised in the latest round of campaign fundraising.

Sioux Falls Open for Business reported $169,134, while Smart Growth Sioux Falls raised $80,849. The reporting period covered the last month with reports due at the City Clerk’s Office at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Sioux Falls Open for Business formally formed as a campaign committee on Sept. 20, raising the entirety of its contributions in about a 10-day period. The money reported by Smart Growth Sioux Falls is in addition to the $93,000 noted in its September filing.
