Home in rural Sioux Falls continued to be used after cease and desist orders
The owner of a home used as a shot-term rental saw his bid for a conditional use permit rejected Tuesday night following dozens of complaints from nearby residents.
A joint meeting between the Minnehaha County Commission and the Sioux Falls City Council rejected the application of Tyler Childress, who appealed an earlier decision by the Planning Commission to deny his request.

Past history played a big role in the rejection.
Childress originally sought a permit as a bed and breakfast in January 2023 after the county received a zoning complaint. The large home at 47644 Slip Up Creek Road was being marketed on short-term rental websites and also used by wedding parties and other events for the nearby Laurel Ridge Event Center, which Childress also owns.
