PIERRE – When Attorney General Marty Jackley returned to the post of the state’s top law enforcement officer in 2023, he found 16 complaints submitted to the state’s Open Meetings Commission just hanging out.

That commission, formed to adjudicate accusations that public bodies broke state open meeting laws, had been moribund. Nearly four years elapsed between meetings, in part because of the pandemic and because the former attorney general had been removed from office in a lengthy process following a traffic accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

PIERRE – High school athletes on varsity teams could earn credit toward their physical education requirement under a bill approved Wednesday by the House Education Committee.
