South Dakota National Guard soldiers are heading back to the US-Mexico border later this summer.

That’s according to a release from Gov. Kristi Noem’s office Thursday, announcing that another 50 soldiers would be heading to the border.

“Our National Guard soldiers are the best prepared to tackle this challenge. They have proven that they can serve with excellence in a situation such as this, and I am confident that they will do so again,” Noem’s office said in a statement.

It will be the third time in two years that soldiers from South Dakota will provide support at the southern border. Last year, the South Dakota National Guard went on a federal deployment to the border.
