New year brings enrollment jump for Sioux Falls' newest Catholic school
Hybrid education model driving growth for St. Joseph Academy
A Catholic school that blends traditional learning and alternative education is touting more than 30 percent growth in its second year operating in Sioux Falls.
St. Joseph Academy this week announced that the parochial school that began operating in the 2025-26 school year began the new school year Thursday with 86 students enrolled. That marks a 32 percent jump that Catholic diocese leaders and educators at St. Joseph Academy credit to not only the addition of an eighth grade classroom to complement its pre-K through grade seven courses offered last year, but also the community’s appetite for a new approach to educating children.
