New Sioux Falls City Council takes over
Half the membership changes as 28 years of collective experience leaves office
Sioux Falls witnessed a peaceful transfer of power Friday with the installation of four new council members – half of the eight-member body.
Second Circuit Judge John Pekas swore in each of the four separately as they were flanked by family and friends. After each one was sworn in, they took their place at their seat in the council chambers. The names of departing members were removed from placards and replaced with the new names.
And thus starts the clock ticking on their four-year terms.
