For 41 years, Rosie Café at 2202 W. Madison St. stood as an unshakeable anchor in West Sioux Falls – a tight-knit community that has spent a century forging its own distinct identity.

When original owners Rosie Warner and her daughter Beckie Mettler closed the beloved institution in May 2025 to relocate to Chester and open Rosie’s Farmhouse Café, a palpable void was left in the neighborhood, and regulars wondered if the soul of this practical corner diner could ever be replaced.

Enter Tom Hinrichs and Barry Selland. After a seven-month gap, the iconic space roared back to life Dec. 23, 2025. Today, the challenge facing these new owners isn’t just about serving up good morning coffee and hearty plates: It is a delicate dance of establishing their own culinary identity while fiercely protecting the rich community atmosphere that made Rosie’s a household name for over four decades.
