New leadership takes gavel, control of Sioux Falls City Council

A pair of Sioux Falls city councilors both in their first terms in office have ascended to the top two positions behind the Carnegie Town Hall dais.

The City Council picked new leadership during their weekly meeting Tuesday in downtown Sioux Falls, casting a series of unanimous votes that made Councilor Rich Merkouris chairman of the eight-member council for the next year, and Councilor Jennifer Sigette vice chairwoman.
