FORT PIERRE – A new 67,000-square-foot senior living facility is preparing to open its doors in the Pierre area.

Peaceful Pines, the much anticipated project located less than half a mile from the Missouri River, will begin moving new residents into the facility in early January, marking the completion of construction on the project that kicked off in August 2022.

Operated by HME Companies, based in Brookings, Peaceful Pines will have 54 beds available – with a range of services tailored to individual needs.

HME operates or is developing similar facilities in Rapid City, Spearfish, Milbank, Madison, and Huron.

“We have heard a lot of positive feedback from future residents and community members,” Heather Janes, administrator of the Fort Pierre facility, told The Dakota Scout. “Some people are moving back home… We have heard from people coming here from Rapid City who had to leave town because there wasn’t a facility available to them.”
