Minnehaha County slow count delays South Dakota primary results

Vote tabulation stretched into early Wednesday, leaving governor’s race, legislative contests, Sioux Falls races unresolved

South Dakota’s largest county is again lagging in vote tabulation, this time holding up outcomes in the 2026 primary election.

And that means nominating contests between Republicans for governor, the Legislature, county offices and nonpartisan city races in Sioux Falls remained unresolved in the early morning hours Wednesday due to another slow count in Minnehaha County.
