Minnehaha County slaps two properties as 'nuisances'
Inoperable vehicles, crane, tires and other debris cited in votes for Ellis, Lyons parcels
Two Minnehaha County properties have been declared a nuisance by the County Commission following unsuccessful efforts by county staff to bring them voluntarily into compliance.
The nuisance designation paves the way for the county to hire contractors to clean the properties, bringing them into compliance with health and safety standards.
But Tuesday’s nuisance designations weren’t without some disagreement, at least with the first property. That one, located at 2204 N. Ellis Road, saw two commissioners, Jen Bleyenberg and Cole Heisey voting against the nuisance designation. They were outvoted by Commissioners Dean Karsky, Gerald Beninga and Joe Kippley.
