Minnehaha County commissioners will move public comment to the end of their regular meetings following a 4-1 vote Tuesday.

But in a concession to several people who testified against moving public comment, the Commission agreed to keep public comment at five minutes. Commissioners had been considering limiting each person to three minutes.

About a half-dozen people criticized the proposal prior to Tuesday’s vote. They argued that the move limits their ability to address elected officials.

“Why is everything being hidden? Why is everything being stifled?” asked Vicky Buhr.
