Minnehaha County caps off $4 million first responder radio upgrades
Large pockets in county existed where portable radios didn't have coverage
A multi-year effort to upgrade radio coverage for first responders in Minnehaha County has come to a conclusion, yielding excellent results, Minnehaha County Sheriff Capt. Joe Bosman reported Tuesday.
Bosman told county commissioners that final work on the upgrades was completed this fall. Nearly all of the money for the $4 million project came from the federal government via the American Recovery Plan Act, a $1.9 trillion spending package approved by Democrats in 2021. That act sent billions to local governments.
