South Dakota-based Midco is expanding its reach across the Northern Plains with a newly announced acquisition that doubles as a return to familiar territory in rural Minnesota.

Midco announced it has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire Savage Communications Inc. (SCI) Broadband, a regional internet provider that serves nearly 12,000 customers across central, eastern and northeastern Minnesota. The deal, which is expected to close Oct. 1, 2025, marks a significant step in Midco’s ongoing "Fiber Forward" expansion initiative aimed at delivering high-speed internet to more rural communities, Midco officials said.
