Mexican national charged in South Dakota’s largest meth bust
Man indicted after Friday night arrest in Sturgis listed as California resident
Authorities say the man arrested in the largest methamphetamine seizure in South Dakota history is a Mexican national who had been living in California.
Attorney General Marty Jackley on Monday announced that 42-year-old Alonso Molinacorona of Fresno has been indicted on two felony counts after Highway Patrol troopers discovered 207 pounds of crystal meth during a Friday night traffic stop in Meade County.
“Meth of any amount is dangerous, but distribution of meth with a street value of $12 million would have led to grave consequences for our citizens,” Jackley said in a statement. “I appreciate the excellent work of the South Dakota Highway Patrol in stopping and arresting this defendant.”
