Meet the candidates: Three spots up for grabs in Minnehaha County Commission race

Cindy Heiberger, Jeff Barth departures open door for at least two new faces on commission

A pair of departures on the Minnehaha County Commission and a third member up for re-election have five candidates vying for three seats on the primary governing board for South Dakota’s largest county.

Longtime commissioners Cindy Heiberger and Jeff Barth are calling it a career when it comes to their tenures on the five-member panel that sets Minnehaha County’s priorities, while Commissioner Gerald Beninga is seeking a fourth term.

The Dakota Scout sent a series of questions to the candidates running for Minnehaha County Commission in the Nov. 8 election. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to each question to 100 words or fewer.
