M.G. Oil Co. isn’t wasting anytime.

Lucky Lady’s Casino Wednesday morning closed its doors just hours after the Sioux Falls City Council sent a message that it will not be permitting alcohol sales at the 600 block of W. 11th Street where the casino has operated for decades. The area, known as Mercato Block, has been plagued by crime and high volumes of police calls for decades.

The Dakota Scout reported Tuesday that M.G. Oil Co. was likely to shutter and relocate the casino’s operations rather than face a formal rejection of its request to renew a pair of beer licenses it needs in order to offer video lottery.
