Lloyd Construction sues Liberty Mutual over derecho damages
Storm damaged Hilton Garden Inn that was under construction
Lloyd Construction Co. has filed a lawsuit against Liberty Mutual Insurance over a denied claim for damages caused by a derecho storm.
The Sioux Falls based construction company claims the Aug. 10, 2020 storm caused “significant damage” to a hotel construction project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The National Weather Service defines a derecho as “a widespread, long-lived wind storm that is associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms. Although a derecho can produce destruction similar to the strength of tornadoes, the damage typically is directed in one direction along a relatively straight swath.”
