Linda R. Short, 80, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.
Linda Rae Hall, daughter of Evan and Gladys Hall, was born July 6, 1944, in Independence, Iowa. Linda was the youngest of 9 children. She learned the art of making porcelain dolls from her older sisters, that began a lifelong passion for creating beautiful things.
Linda was united in marriage to Edward Short on November 23, 1987. She was a bartender at the Majestic Bar in Independence for many years, where she made many long-lasting friendships. They later moved to Beresford, SD, where they opened The Doll Exchange, and her creativity began to blossom in a variety of ceramics. This led to experimenting with other crafts, such as making her own stamps to create cards for the chaplain at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Linda enjoyed walking, camping, and had a tremendous love for all animals, especially her two spoiled cats, Spencer and Tracy.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ed Short of Sioux Falls; children, Lisa (Dave) Bonrud of Sioux Falls, Lynnesy (Carl) Wathen of Rowley, IA, and Donald Rommann of Red Wing, MN; grandchildren, Leia Wathen, Benton Blohn, Christopher (Mandy) Blohn, Bradley Blohn, Baron Blohn, Ragan (Eric) McClung, and Jayden Ausland; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Gladys; daughter, Kristin Rommann; and eight siblings.
