Linda L. Bork, age 75, of Sioux Falls passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Linda Louise Nelson was born Sept. 29, 1950, in Britton to Arvid Nelson and Leona Marguerite (Schroeder) Nelson of Langford. She grew up on the farm near Langford and attended country school in Sisseton Township. She continued her education, graduating as valedictorian, class of 1968, from Langford High School. Linda continued her education at South Dakota State University, where she proudly marched for the Pride (playing the cornet) and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. As an RN, Linda began her career in Cheyenne, Wyo., and then Rochester, Minn., before making her home in Sioux Falls in 1978 and with McKennan Hospital. Linda was blessed with the perfect demeanor for nursing, using her compassion, professionalism and guidance to care and comfort her patients for over 38 years before her retirement in 2009.
In 1984, Linda met Robert “Bob” Bork at the Eastway Bowling Alley. They married on April 21, 1990, at Highlanda Lutheran Church in rural Langford. Together, they traveled and enjoyed hiking, spending time at their lake cabin in northern Minnesota.
Linda was very musical, playing the piano and cornet and singing, and enjoyed attending concerts. She loved all things sports such as watching and rooting for the Jackrabbits, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, and playing golf, especially Spring Creek Golf Course. She also enjoyed working on countless crossword puzzles. Above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bob Bork of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Angela (Rick) Carlson of Vermillion and Laurel (Bob) Peterson of Lompoc, Calif.; brother, Brian (Carolynn) Nelson of Bowdle; brother-in-law, Colin (Brenda) Bork of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Arvid and Leona Nelson; brother, Warren Nelson; sister-in-law, Carol Johnson; and nephew, Zach Nelson.
