I was privileged to attend the recent naturalization ceremony at the Washington Pavilion in which 51 persons from 25 different countries became U.S. citizens surrounded by family, friends and co-workers.
It was a profoundly moving experience and I wanted to attend because I have helped with English as a second language classes for over 10 years. The contrast between the tone and words shared during this ceremony and public commentary of late, particularly by President Donald Trump and others in his administration, couldn’t have been more stark.
