LeRoy E. Neuharth, age 90, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation, with his family present, will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Welter Funeral Home.
LeRoy Eugene Neuharth was born on March 31, 1935 to Gideon and Edna Neuharth on a farm southwest of Huron. He attended Meadowlark Country School and graduated from Alpena High School. LeRoy was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezar Reformed Church in Alpena, SD. and where he married Judy Kater on May 20, 1956. LeRoy farmed for two years with his dad. After marrying Judy, the couple farmed for 41 years. After retiring from farming, they moved to Huron, SD in 1997. After moving to Huron, he worked for Magness Livestock Market for many years. In 2021, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. LeRoy was a 50+year member of First Presbyterian Church in Huron where he served as a Trustee and was head usher for over 30 years.
LeRoy attended the stock car races in Huron and rarely missed a race. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and was particularly excited when he was able to see his great-grandson.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Judy, son Mark (Cindy) Neuharth, daughter Tami (Dave) Dickmeyer, granddaughters Erin (James) Marr and Stefanie (Dan) Wieme, great-grandson Logan Wieme, 3 sisters, Eileen Dracy, Dianne (Ron) Rasmussen, and Kathy Fink, step-granddaughters Amber (Mitch) Coburn, Brooke (Steve Dupic) Dickmeyer, and Corrie (Dom) Kast, step-great grandchildren Isaiah, Gavin and Gabe Coburn, Ryan and Jamie Dupic, and Sutton and Saylor Kast and many nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Janice Eddy, and brothers-in-law Victor Dracy, Jim Peskey, Jim Fink, and Leon Eddy.
