Joel Allen Grubb, age 67, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a long illness.
Born on December 10, 1957, in Panama City Beach, Florida, he spent the majority of his life in East Tennessee and West Georgia. In 1976, he married his childhood sweetheart, Delia Collum.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Grubb. He is survived by his mother, Helen Johnsrude; his wife, Delia Grubb; his children, Atha (Michael) Booth, Jesse Grubb, and Anna (Keith) Waack; his grandchildren, Olivia and Lydia Booth; and his brothers, John and Jacob Grubb, along with their families.
Joel dedicated much of his life as a stone craftsman taking pride in hard work and caring for his family. He was an active church member and was involved in outreach to others. Joel was a respected stone craftsman, known for his meticulous attention to detail, determined spirit, and passion for both his craft and the outdoors. His craftsmanship set the standards for excellence because of his attention to detail, unwavering standards, and industrious demeanor. His love for God, dedication to hard work, and his family defined his life, while his kindness continued to inspire all who knew him. He also had a tender heart toward the deaf community and along with his wife helped to found Deaf Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA.
A simple obituary cannot fully encapsulate Joel’s life, but it serves as a tribute to a humble man who was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Joel’s life story is a vivid picture of dedication and service to others, leaving many inspired by his personal kindness.
Funeral services were held at Eastside Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, SD, on February 24th, at 9 AM. with visitation at 8:30 AM. He was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery on February 26th, 2025.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at Deaf Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. The address is listed below:
