Attorney general drops first batch of bills; vows more are coming

Last year saw Attorney General Marty Jackley sponsor a raft of legislation aimed at dealing with public corruption following a cluster of indictments.

Now, following a number of overdose deaths among inmates at the South Dakota State Penitentiary, Jackley is proposing legislation to toughen penalties related to brining controlled substances into prisons, among other bills.
