Independent will stretch Minnehaha County race into fall
Longtime county social worker enters race, to face winners of GOP primary in November
There will be a contest for the County Commission on the fall ballot in South Dakota’s largest county after all.
Anny Libengood, a longtime county social worker who left public employment three years ago, has filed to run for the Minnehaha County Commission, seeking one of two positions on the five-member commission up for grabs in this year’s election.
“I felt like I grew up at the county, and it has a special place in my heart,” the 45-year-old said this week in an interview with The Dakota Scout, referring to an 18-year career in the county’s Human Services Department.
