A one-term lawmaker from Mitchell is dropping his bid for re-election to the South Dakota State House.

According to the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website, Rep. Ben Krohmer of District 20 withdrew his candidacy for re-election officially on Tuesday.

Krohmer, who over two years of service in Pierre has served on his chamber’s Commerce and Energy and Transportation committees, did not respond to a request from The Dakota Scout about his decision to step aside Wednesday.
