The Elementary Immersion Center is located in All City Elementary at Jane Addams in Sioux Falls. (Barry Amundson / For Sioux Falls Live)

Elementary students coming into the Sioux Falls School District from other countries who need to learn English or brush up on skills will no longer be housed in one place.

With a drop in numbers, the newcomers, as the district likes to call them, will be learning English in the schools nearest to their homes.

That will mean the closure of the Elementary Immersion Center at Jane Addams Elementary School at 2511 W. Brookings St. The school is near the intersection of Madison Street and North Kiwanis Avenue in west-central Sioux Falls, where students in grades one through five were bused for classes.
