There won’t be any skating on the ice ribbon at the new Jacobson Plaza at the Falls this winter.

Sioux Falls city officials had hoped to have the concrete poured for the ribbon portion of the Plaza on North Phillips Avenue before it got cold. But construction delays and the recent cold weather have pushed that back until spring, Jackie Nelson, recreation manager for the Parks and Recreation Department said Wednesday.

“We were hoping for a soft opening for the Jacobson Plaza here after the first of the new year, but right now due to some construction delays, the weather and some consultant feedback, we're planning to hold the ribbon for now,” Nelson said during a media briefing on winter activities in the city.
