'I have cancer': South Dakota auditor hopeful opens up on diagnosis

A Sioux Falls city councilor with ambitions to serve at the state Capitol has cancer.

Councilor David Barranco disclosed the diagnosis in a statement provided to The Dakota Scout Monday.

“I have undergone another battery of tests, and the results are beyond dispute: I have cancer,” the 53-year-old attorney-turned-elected official said, opening up about a monthslong health battle that recently worsened.
