Head of Sioux Falls-area economic group stepping down
Jesse Fonkert had been a finalist for open GOED commissioner post
A top economic development official in the Sioux Falls area is leaving his post.
The Sioux Falls Metro Growth Alliance announced Wednesday that its president and CEO, Jesse Fonkert, is stepping down later this summer after nearly four years leading the organization, which serves the economic development needs of sixteen rural and suburban municipalities in the four counties that make up the Sioux Falls metro statistical area.
“It has been an honor to serve as first, Executive Director of the combined Lincoln and Minnehaha County Economic Development Associations, and now as the President and CEO of SMGA,” Fonkert said in a statement. “The success of our organization is thanks to the dedication of our staff, boards, and members of SMGA. I am excited for what the future holds for the economic development of this region and the continued progress of the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance.”
