Harrisburg, Spearfish fastest growing cities
All but two of South Dakota's largest cities saw population gains
The city of Harrisburg led the state in population growth while Spearfish saw the second highest rate of growth, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday.
Harrisburg’s population grew by a blistering 10.5 percent from July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2022.
“I was shocked,” Mayor Derick Wenck said of when he learned how quickly the city had grown in a single year.
