Gov. Larry Rhoden admonished the city of Brookings Friday for giving the public a heads up that state troopers will flood the area next week as part of an anti-crime crackdown.

But city officials there are standing by their decision to announce their community would be among the next targets of Operation: Prairie Thunder, a state-led public safety initiative aimed at bringing parole absconders, violent criminals and illegal immigrants into custody of local and federal authorities.
