South Dakota lawmakers will return to the state Capitol in September for another round of prison funding talks.

Gov. Larry Rhoden has issued an executive proclamation calling for a special session of the South Dakota Legislature on Sept. 23, where legislators will consider authorizing hundreds of millions of dollars for the construction of a new men’s prison.

In a letter sent to lawmakers, legislative leaders, and Lt. Gov. Tony Venhuizen, Rhoden set the date for Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. in Pierre.
