Today Amazon once again reduced the price of Noem's book—not yet on the shelves. It's now being offered at a 37% discount. If too many more questionable anecdotes like staring down Kim Jong Un or standing up Emmanuel Macron* are uncovered, there will be no going back for this book as it moves to the fantasy shelf of the fiction section. Kristi's egotism and cockiness are utterly astounding, e.g. "Dealing with foreign leaders takes resolve, preparation and determination. My experiences on those many foreign trips made me a better member of Congress and a stronger governor. It allowed me to hone my deal-making skills, which play a crucial role in leadership." In her eight years in the U.S. House, Noem sponsored one bill—that's right, one—that became law, the uncontroversial Black Hills Cemetery Act. Deal-making skills? Leadership? If I weren't still brooding over poor Cricket, I'd be laughing hysterically at her chutzpah. [*As for Noem's French experience, I urge you to find the tiresome "I'm Kristi" spiel she gave to a very small right-wing audience in Paris last November. Other than fellow "presenter" Corey Lewandowski, few seemed to had any idea who she was. And fewer still seemed to care.

Noem just recently said her account of killing a puppy and a goat were "fake news." Hmmm, so does that mean her account of meeting Kim Jong Un and Macron were also fake news? As Miles notes, facts mean nothing and the truth is simply something to make up as you go. As this makes clear, like Fox and that ilk that know they are lying and do it anyway to serve their ends, how can she or the party she represents be trusted--and more importantly, why would we elect anyone that can't be trusted? Is that the kind of leadership this state or this country needs?
